I put your link for Stolpersteine in my favorites so I can go back and read more about them. So you were with Sylvia and Sylvia's sisters grandson, that is so awesome. The picture with the rose petals really touched me. The Memorial is beautiful and I think your right, they wanted it to feel that way. This is an excellent post. Thank you for walking me through Stolperteine and Berlin.Debby@Just Breathehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11685398064340027809noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2469509176316025961.post-6640619847604110592013-08-02T06:55:58.873-04:002013-08-02T06:55:58.873-04:00I never knew about the Stolpersteine --thank you f...I never knew about the Stolpersteine --thank you for sharing that.

I visited Dachau when I was living there -- but the stones are a better way to represent the people who were torn from their homes and existence, and to demonstrate the loss to the community. The camps are "away" and easy to avoid visiting. The steine are "in your face" but respectful to the dead.

Wow. The entire concept of the Holocaust is incomprehensible. I can't help but wonder what impression this experience made on the young people who were with you--one so deep hopefully that it will impact their lives to do all in their power to prevent such evil in their own little corner of the world.
