Wednesday Medley Gone to the Dogs

It's just like the Wednesday Hodgepodge, but with a new name and a new "hostess with the mostess"! Much thanks to Terri for continuing our Wednesday Q&A...I'm looking forward to being reacquainted with old friends and meeting new ones.
1.  Have you ever had a special pet in your life?  Will you tell us about it?
I've had several dogs...all of them have been absolutely wonderful. Ally (a Schnauzer) lived the longest: 15 years. Pepper (who passed away about 2 years ago) lived almost as long. If I had to pick just 1, I would have to say Pepper. She was meant to be CH's dog, but she clung onto me and was my shadow. She was one of a kind and I still miss her terribly.
2.  Did you grow up with pets in your home?  What did it teach you?
We had a couple of dogs and a cat at one time. I learned that my dad really was a big ol' softy when it came to the cat. Somewhere there is a picture with the cat on the couch with him and he is scratching behind his ears. My dad was a farmboy...when he decided the cat needed to be neutered, he did it himself. We never saw that cat again!
3.  Do you ever wonder what animals are thinking?
Oh, all the time! Gurl Dogg is the most vocal dog we've ever had.
4.  Sometimes a pet gets out and doesn't return for a few days. What do you think happens to them when they go on a walkabout?
When we lived in SC, Ally used to wander to a farm the next neighborhood over. She never left for very long. I think the longest she was gone was just overnight. She liked to go over and visit their barn.
5.  With cats and dogs being the most popular pets, what is the most exotic pet you have personal experience with (didn't have to be yours)?
An iguana. It wasn't mine and wasn't in my house (thank goodness!).
6.  Please tell us something random about your week so far...
Nothing much going on around here, just a lot of rain. The 1 day the sun came out, I had 2 students say, "The sun!" That ought to tell you something!

A "Bah, Humbug!" Kind of Wednesday Medley

It's just like the Wednesday Hodgepodge, but with a new name and a new "hostess with the mostess"! Much thanks to Terri for continuing our Wednesday Q&A...I'm looking forward to being reacquainted with old friends and meeting new ones.
1.  I think St. Valentine's Day is for everyone, whether you have a romantic love interest or not.  I received a Valentine card from my sister (thank you Patti!) - case in point.  It is all about LOVE, not just romantic love.  What are your traditions for celebrating Valentine's Day?
Absolutely none. I honestly think it's a waste of a good day.
2.  When you were in elementary school, did you decorate a shoe box and deliver those little valentines to all your classmates?   Perhaps in Sunday School?
Oh, yeah!
3.  Do you enjoy playing Cupid?  Have you ever introduced a couple who really clicked?
CH & I introduced a couple when we lived in SC. She lived down the street from us & he worked with CH in Ga. We introduced them when he was transferred to SC. I'd say they've been together for about 20 years, give or take a few.
4.  Which traditional Valentine's Day gift would you rather receive:  Chocolate, flowers, or a card with a personal message?
Flowers die, so I'm not much of a flowers person. I really shouldn't be eating chocolate (not that that's keeping me from it!). Cards are kind of a waste, too. So...I'll go with chocolate!
5.  What is the best movie to watch on Valentine's Day?
The movie "Valentine's Day" is pretty good...kind of along the lines of "Love Actually"...lives that are intertwined.
6.  Tell us something random about your week!
Is it just around here, or are there dead skunks all over the country? CH & I were talking about it the other day, & I mentioned to him a song. He said he had never heard it. Have you?

A Foodie Wednesday Medley

NATIONAL FROZEN YOGURT DAY รข€“ February 6
Frozen Yogurt Day was the most fun of the choices for today's first question.  I have no idea why the creator chose a winter day to celebrate a frozen dessert, but here we are!!  Let's talk about food today (one of my favorite subjects)!
1.  Today, Wednesday, February 6th, is Frozen Yogurt Day!  A cold dessert on what must be a very cold day for most of you reading this today!  Do you enjoy frozen yogurt?  Does it matter what the weather is?  Share with us your favorite flavor and/or topping, please!!
I'm not a big fan of frozen yogurt but I do love some BlueBell ice cream! This flavor has just come to my area:
2.  What food do you know you shouldn't eat but can't help yourself?
Chocolate
3.  If your life was a meal, what kind of meal would it be?
Something regular and Americana...nothing fancy.
4.  Do you like spicy food?  Why or why not?  What is the spiciest food you have ever eaten?
Nope, I like to enjoy my food. I have no idea what the spiciest food I've ever eaten was...I pretty much steer clear.
5.  (Most of you know I have been sick with a cold.) What food do you eat or crave when you have a bad cold?
Nothing. If I have a sore throat I crave banana popsicles. If I'm getting over a stomach bug I want peanut butter crackers.
6.  Please tell us something random about your week (and maybe it will involve food).
I came home a couple of days ago to YS making cornbread and bacon jam. I had never even heard of bacon jam before, but it was absolutely delicious! He's moving out to his first apartment this weekend. It's going to be really strange to not have him here, but it's time for my littlest chick to fly. OS is staying with us for a while so he'll be able to move in the basement and take over YS' space. Yep, the granddog is in the house, too.
