It "May"be the Middle of the Month Hodgepodge

1. Tell us about a time you found yourself 'in the middle of nowhere'. Was this deliberate?
A couple of years ago, we were coming back from The Keys, and the traffic as we hit the Ga. line was horrible. The weather was really weird, too...very foggy and just weird. The GPS took us off the interstate into the middle of nowhere. That was the first time in a very long time that I was a little nervous.

2. What's something you're 'in the middle of' today or this week?
This week, I'm in the middle of the last week of school!!!  WHOOP!!!

3. At what age do you think 'middle age' begins? What does it mean to be 'middle aged'?
At 54, it's hard for me to imagine myself as "middle age". I suspect I am, but I sure don't feel like it!

4. Ravioli, stuffed peppers, samosas, deviled eggs, steamed dumplings, pierogis, or a jelly donut...your favorite food (from this list!) with something yummy in the middle. Your favorite not on the list?
 I do love some pierogis!

5. Albert Einstein is quoted as saying ''In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.'Would you agree? Have you found this to be true in your own life? Feel free to elaborate.
Absolutely. You just have to get through the difficulty to find the opportunity!

6. What's a song you remember loving from your middle school years? Do you love it still?
I checked the top 100 songs from when I was in 6th grade; man, there were a lot of good songs back then!  "You're so Vain", "Crocodile Rock", "The Night the Lights Went out in Georgia", "Killing Me Softly With His Song". But, this is the song that I really loved then and still do today:
But, WAIT! I have to pick this one, too:

7. May 18th is National Visit Your Relatives Day. Will you celebrate? Which relative would you visit if time, distance, and expense were not considered.
I'll be celebrating, but it will be my anniversary.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
The dove that nested on the wreath on the front porch is gone, and so is the egg. I feel bad that they wasted all that time sitting on it, just to have it not hatch.

  1. I too loved "Rocky Mountain High." I loved all of John Denver's music back then, and he was one of the first concerts I ever went to see/hear live. I bought all his albums. Definitely a fan!

  2. Happy anniversary!

When we came back from Hilton Head last fall, we took back roads to bypass a long delay around Atlanta. While we weren't in the middle of nowhere obviously, it was still pretty nerve wracking to not know where we were and to trust that the GOS would get us back to I-75.

  4. Rocky Mtn High is one of my all time favorite songs. I know what you mean about the GPS....and GA. Frank and I ended up in a weird place once doing the same thing. There was actually a house sitting in the middle of where the GPS said the road was....and no way around it. I could hear pigs squealing and banjo's playing. Very odd.

  5. I really like The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia! But I wouldn't like it one bit that a GPS takes you out in the middle of nowhere. Eek.

  6. Oh that is sad about the dove. Ours are still nesting under the deck and we love watching them. Can't wait to see the baby learn to fly. Happy anniversary.

  7. What beautiful songs you chose. I'm loving hearing all the different songs that were picked. Pierogis are delicious, especially with sour cream and kielbasa :)

  9. Hooray for the last week of school!!! I'm still in the middle age category but I have ten years on you. I'm not happy with this and working very hard to find a happy place as I age. Like your answer for #5. Happy Anniversary. It's our daughters birthday today. Sorry about the dove :(

  10. Happy anniversary!

I chose a song from my 8th grade year in my response. My 6th grade was still in elementary school. The songs that you mentioned are great, too. I like the songs "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia" and "Rocky Mountain High".

The more I hear about GPS and it misdirecting people, the less I would ever be inclined to trust it. Mapquest has sent us in circles more times than I can count. But, getting lost opens us up to some interesting adventures, that's for sure. I don't think that I would be up for an adventure of that sort on the Keys, though! :)

    Have a blessed day!

  11. Very interesting post. I can understand feeling very concerned about being misdirected in backwoods Georgia. I was born in Georgia and know that there is a great diversity of people there. Most of them are very nice people once you get to know them.

I think one of the big concerns there would be taking a wrong turn and winding up in the swamp.

You have a great selection of tunes there. I like the picture displayed on the Rocky Mountain High video.

    Happy Anniversary.
