Weekend Wrap-up 1

I have so many pictures from this weekend, I think I'm going to have to separate out the posts to keep everybody from being bored with 1 long post!
Let's start with Thursday evening.  On my way to flute choir practice, I saw this on a truck:
The irony in seeing that was that I was.  Runnin' late, that is.  You would think that since I was on Fall Break I would've been there early!  When I got there, though, our director was just getting there, too, so I wasn't the only one runnin' late!

Friday, CH & I debated on whether or not we should drive 1 hour to the Small Town's football game.  We knew it wasn't going to be a very good game, but we also realized that our chances of watching YS perform are very limited.  So, we went.
YS with his "game face" on.

 On the field performing:

Before they performed, we saw this gander of geese fly over, but they weren't in a "V".  CH said that their next formation would be a "T" (get it:  for UT).
If you've been reading my blog for a while, you may remember a post I wrote on how Small Town High was recognizing Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Other schools are getting in on the recognition, and the school we played on Friday did, as well.  The football players wore pink socks, and the cheerleaders had this:
We all know how shameless us bloggers are with pictures!  I asked the cheerleader if I could take a picture of her pom-pom, and she said "sure" without even a funny look.  Wonder if her mom blogs???

Here's a "not-so-great" picture of a water tower that you can see from the field that looks like a UFO when it's lit at night.  Especially if you're driving on the interstate and see it!
I took a video so you could see a typical YS in the stands during the game.  I've had so many people stop me and tell me that they spend a lot of the game watching him instead of the game!  He really is having a blast this year!
(Please forgive the bad sound quality!)

Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea

~  A casualty of Fall Break:  YS' glasses.  I went into the living room this morning to find his frames chewed up, and one of the ear pieces detached.

~ Have you heard about Songza?  You can use the app on an android or apple product, as well as your pc/laptop.  I think I like it better than iHeart Radio or Pandora.  When you open it up, it will give you suggestions for that day/time of day.  Or, you can search for an artist/song and it will open a playlist for that genre (much like the other 2).

~ How have I not heard about "The Chew"?  Seriously???  One of my favorite chefs from Top Chef is one of the hosts:  Carla Hall.  ABSOLUTELY. LOVE. HER!!!  I don't know how I'm ever going to repay Tracy for mentioning that show in a post, then taking the time to email to send a link to watch the episodes online!

~  Today's the last day of Fall Break.  It's been a good one!  Yesterday I actually got some super cute therapy materials made.  I'm so glad there are creative people out there who don't mind sharing their products for free!

~  The VP Debate last night:  Oh. my.  I have sooo much I could say, but I won't.  If you know me or follow me on twitter, you already know my thoughts.

~  On that note, hope everybody has a fantastic weekend!

Cuddly Hump Day

Yesterday was a cuddle kind of hump day.  After YS left for school, and CH for work, I sat on the couch with Laika on one side and Pepper on the other, and read just about everybody's posts for the Hodgepodge. Pepper was in her normal spot: wedged in between me and the arm of the couch.  Laika decided to come up next to me and cuddle.  When I got up to do something, this is what I returned to:
Who could resist that little face?  I wanted to take a couple of pictures of her on the couch with me, because it's not often that she's cuddling with me...it's usually CH.  Then I remembered my webcam (DUUUUUHH!), and this is what I got:

As I was reading and commenting, I noticed that she was watching the cursor on the screen.  Here's what she did:

I had a semi-productive day afternoon:  I finished the laundry and reseasoned a cast iron skillet.  I thought about taking a before picture, but then I started getting the rust off and forgot about it.  It was a MESS; it was so incredibly rusty, we almost threw it out.  But, after some elbow grease, here's what it looks like now:
Not bad, huh?  I looked on the back to see what kind of skillet it is, and it's a Lodge Cast Iron Skillet!  Made right here in Tn.!  If you read my post on Monday, you may remember that we visited the factory outlet that is next to the factory over the weekend.  It's good to know that there are still companies in the U.S. that make a good product!
I can't believe it's already Thursday.  I've got a few IEPs to write so I don't have to worry about them during the work-week, and I wanted to get some therapy materials made.  Monday will be here before you know it.
