Friday Fragments' New Look

Friday Fragments with Star
Since Mrs. 4444 hung up her Friday Fragments' hat, Traci at A Star in My Own  Universe has bravely stepped up and taken over.

~Busy weekend in the area: there's a festival called Hops in the Hills and Small Town's Freedom Fest is going on. Sounds like a good weekend to stay in the house...or go to the big city!

~ I got sucked into The Bachelorette on Monday. I'm super creeped out by Nick. from last season's stalking to this season's weaseling to get on the show, he's just creepy. Were the guys that boring that they had to let him back on? And why is the girl not getting it? *shudder*

~ I started reading a YA book The Doom Machine, but I just can't go any further. I have no idea why I even bought it. I usually force myself to read books I'm not crazy about, but I just can't do this. Aliens that look like spiders...yuck.

~ I ran over to one of my schools last week to put some stuff up. I looked at materials that I made over the past year, and it hit me: I'm hoping to retire in 10 years...why am I spending so much time buying and making new materials? I should be on the down-slide and not being so encompassed with trying to keep up with the young ones. I'm planning on taking the rest of the summer to take a good hard look at what I'm doing.

~ A few pictures from our "Field Trip"during the photography class I'm taking:

The light wasn't great, but we did find some reflections to use as subjects:
 Different point of view:
In the reflection, I saw the kayak in the back of the truck & thought of OS!
I like how the ducks look like they're having quite the conversation in this one:

~ I saw this guy in the park earlier in the week when I was walking the dogs:

After I took the dogs home, I grabbed my camera and went back to the park to snap some shots. I saw him again this morning, but in a different part of the park.

See what everybody else is fraggin' about at A Star in My Own Universe.

Friday Fragments

Half-Past Kissin' Time

~  I had every intention of writing this post last night, but I was having trouble with my speech blog.  I had the bright idea to disable my right-click on that post, and couldn't remember how I had done it.  I must've played around with the Template HTML and didn't put it back like it was, because I was having some trouble with codes not turning into pictures.  (Does that even make any sense???)

~  I was having trouble with getting the code box under a button, too.  Fortunately, a friend has a daughter who works on blogs, so I shot her a request for some help.  It took her all of about 5 minutes.  At least I think that's all it took; she said it didn't take any time at all!  If you need some help, I highly recommend her.  You can find her here.

~  The First Grade was on a field trip this morning and one of my kids was absent, so I saw a total of 4 kids all day long.  I have 1 evaluation to do, and it's on a First Grader.  I did some planning and re-organized some, so it was a good day!

~  Zero Hero made an appearance today since it was the Kindergarten Classes 100th day of school.  He went in and talked about adding zeros to numbers.

~  Where has this warm weather come from?  They're calling for  "winter weather" on Wednesday, so I don't think Spring is here yet!

~  YS hasn't been around much; he's busy with school and working.  He's settling into school nicely; just wish he'd settle into taking care of his laundry!  I don't do it for him, but it's really aggravating when I try to do our laundry and his clothes have been in the washing machine for a couple of days.  Which means they have to be washed again before I can wash ours.  Gripe session over.

~  Is anybody else sad to see the Olympics end?  It seems like they just started.  I don't like that some of the athletes are saying some events were rigged; it is what it is.

~  Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Friday Frags: Back at it!

Half-Past Kissin' Time

~  How long has it been since I've fragged???  Seems like forever!

~  Today is the last Friday before Christmas break...only 3 more school days!

~  Friday the 13th...it always makes me think of the Friday 13th that one of my sisters & I were cleaning the basement for another sister's party (not sure why we were doing that) and T had to go to the bathroom.  We went together, and T pushed the bathroom door open to make sure nobody was behind it.  It didn't open all of the way, so we both ran screaming:  T upstairs, and I ran into the rec room and put all of my weight against the door (like that could've kept somebody out!).  My oldest sister called our next door neighbor, who came over with his shotgun.  My 2nd oldest sister had left her shoe behind the door, which was why it wouldn't close.

~  I'm really glad I have a supervisor who is supportive.  I've been really stressed out about something, but, after talking to her, I think things are going to be okay.

~  CH & I went to the big town last night to help MS move the last of his things into his new digs.  He has been living in the fraternity house, but they were notified over Thanksgiving that their charter was being revoked.  I don't know all of the details.  His fraternity was one of the best ones on campus, which makes it harder to believe.  It was incredibly sad to walk into the fraternity house...most of the guys have already left.  One of the guys moving out said that he thought it would hit them at the beginning of the new semester when they don't go back to the fraternity house.

~  I've got to get started on my Christmas shopping.  Nothing like waiting 'til the last minute, huh?

Friday Fragments

~  Last week, I posted about my failed caramels turning into success by using it as a syrup over pound cake/ice cream.  Saturday, I ran across this quote:
"For every failure, there's an alternative
course of action. You just have to find it.
When you come to a roadblock,
                                                           take
a detour."

~  I saw this clip on FB the other day:

~  We had snow in the forecast for today.  We just knew this was the one.  So, what are we getting out of it?  A 1-hour delay.  Which does me no good:  my first person on Fridays is at 9:00, so it's cutting into my planning/testing time.

~  I guess I shouldn't be too disappointed about not getting a snow day:  we have Monday off.  I do love my job (especially during June/July)!

~ I'm reading "The Hunger Games", and I'm having a hard time putting it down.  I found the trilogy for free in the android marketplace.  They also had the Sookie Stackhouse series, and a Nicholas Sparks series:  all for free!

Linking up with Mrs. 4444 today!
