Friday's Fave Five: Better Late than Never

I’m posting a little late today; we’ve been exceptionally busy the past couple of days! Better late than never, right? Joining Susanne at Living to Tell the Story with my FFF.
1.      My favorite text is from MS. I told him I was planning on meeting an SLP that I know out in the cyberworld, and here is his response:
2.      I ran across what is becoming my favorite quote yet again. This time, it was in an Etsy shop.
3.      Favorite search. MS & I had a discussion about some foods, and being able to eat alligator on Fridays during Lent came into question. I inserted it into Google and got a response.
4. Funniest thing I saw on Facebook this week:
5.   Favorite moment:
I ran into a high school friend & his wife on Sunday night. CH & I were eating at our usual Sunday night Mexican Restaurant. He came up to me, said my name, and said, “You don’t know who I am, do you?” It took me about half of a minute before I realized who it was. I don’t think I’ve seen him since I graduated from high school, and I had never met his wife. They sat down and chatted until our food came, and it we talked like we had known each other forever. We (the high school friend & I) lived away and came back to the Small Town after 20+ years.

Friday's Fave Five

I'm joining Susanne at Living to Tell the Story with my fave 5 for the week:

1. Favorite Freebie:
CH & I spent Sunday afternoon at the movies. We hadn't been to the theater in forever, so we took our free tickets from Christmas 2014 (Yes, I said "2014"!) and saw Zoolander 2. We still have tickets from this past Christmas to use.

2. Favorite memory that was made this week:
Since we were on a 2 hour delay for 2 days this week, I was able to go to Daily Mass. Daddy didn't go on Tuesday, but he went on Wednesday. There was only 1 other person in the church at the beginning of the Rosary (which is said prior to the beginning of Mass). As we were reciting it, I realized what a beautiful memory Daddy was making for me. To be kneeling there next to him, reciting prayers that he & Mama taught me as a child. It was amazing to come to that realization.

3. Favorite Text(s):

4. Favorite quote:
(I tried to find the origin of the quote to give credit-as well as give credit for the photo-but couldn't find either.)
5. My Favorite Picture is a toss up between these 2:
You may have to click on the picture to see this, but the bird on the left is giving the other bird an earful.
 My acrobatic squirrel is back.

Fave 5 for Friday

Susanne at Living to Tell the Story hosts the FFF. I'm joining in today for the second week in a row!

Favorite Meal
Vegetable Gumbo. We kick off Lent on Ash Wednesday with fast & abstinence from meat. I’m not a big vegetable eater especially cooked vegetables- but this was really good.

Favorite text ( from 1 of my sisters on Tuesday when it was snowing but we didn’t
have a snow day): “Where are you? I was able to get her back on Wednesday when she was at work and we did  have a snow day!

Favorite wallpaper for my phone

Favorite picture
This was right before I chased him off of the bird feeder for the 100th time.

Favorite quote of the week
Our finger prints don't fade from the lives we touch. - - -Judy Blume

I hope everyone has an awesome weekend!

Friday's Favorite Fave

Time for another Friday's Fave 5.  Already.  Where did the week go?  Before you know it, it will be time for me to go back to work.  :(
Link up with Susanne at Living to Tell the Story to share your fave 5 for the week!

1.  Angry Birds.  Okay, maybe this shouldn't be one of my faves for the week, because I'm about ready to kill those little pigs (or whatever they are) who mock me when I don't get all of them.

2.  Spur of the moment movie with 2 of the boys.
I should've re-watched the other X-Men movies first.

3.  6 a.m. walks with the girls.  It's a perfect time...except when Ally doesn't wake me up until 6:30 and we end up meeting a couple of other people in the park.   I guess I'm going to have to start setting my alarm.

4.  Getting the air conditioner fixed.  For the 2nd time in 6 weeks.  Apparently they missed a leak the first time.

5.  Finding a cd with some pictures I had forgotten about.
There's the one with MS when he was in 5th Grade playing Robert Kennedy in a play:

A picture of the girls looking out of the dining room window when we lived in SC:
OS jumping on his bike:
YS taking the host up to the altar during his First Communion:
(Check out the intense face...he was so scared that he was going to drop it!)
YS' first run of the season in baseball:  (Don't miss his right fingers crossed!)
I had completely forgotten about the cd that had pictures from my parents' 50th Anniversary!  Here is a picture of them with their kids:
(That's me on the right in the blue dress...30 pounds lighter than I am now!)

Friday's Favorite Fave

1.  Date night last Saturday.  Last Christmas, CH got 2 free tickets plus a $10 gift certificate to the concessions at a movie theater in the big town.  We held onto them because CH had forgotten about them we didn't want to waste them, and we had just the movie to see:

I'm not a big Johnny Depp fan, but he's just the perfect person to play Jack Sparrow.  We really enjoyed the movie, so we didn't feel that the tickets didn't were wasted.

2.  A spur of the moment visit to one of our favorite places.  I told CH that it was going to be crazy  busy with it being Memorial Day Weekend, but knowing some backroads helped!
Click on the picture for a better look!
We saw some lazy things:

Coconut Crab
Colorful things:
 Poison Dart Frogs

Weird things:

 Leafy Sea Dragon
 Weedy Sea Dragon
Japanese Spider Crab (the largest crab alive!)
Expected things:
Seahorses

And the playful:

3.  While at the Penguin Playhouse, there was a little boy who had a stuffed penguin.  He held it up to the window and moved it around.  There was a penguin who followed the toy as if it was a mirror.  Very cute!

4.  Ally finally getting her summer haircut:
It looks like she's not too happy about it, but she does feel much better!
5.  Summer routines = afternoon naps!  There's not many things much better than an afternoon nap.

Friday's Favorite Five

I've not been doing a very good job keeping up with FFF lately.  Susanne has a great way to look back over the past week and to share 5 things from the past week.  Visit Living to Tell the Story to link up and share your Fave Five!

1.  Replanting the back space between the sidewalk and the house.  OS inadvertently scraped up a few of my plants from last year.  There are signs that they were there, but I'm not sure if they're going to make it or not, and, being the impatient person that I am, I want there to be more than there already is.
Maybe this is the summer I'll actually get some mulch in there!

2.  Plants that not only came back, but are thriving!  I'm amazed at how my butterfly bushes are growing:

And, they're starting to bloom:
My balloon plants came back, and some of them are doing exceptionally well:

3.  My favorite reading spot in the evenings:
The girls aren't so crazy about it, though!
4.  The opportunity to go to Daily Mass now that school is out.  I loved this time last summer.  My parents attend Daily Mass all through the year, so it's really special to be able to spend that time with them.  Plus, it's a great way to start the day and to get the day going!

5.   Three new recipes in 3 days that are keepers!  They were all exceptionally good!  I didn't take any pictures...I completely forgot about it before we dug in.
Baked Teriyaki Chicken
Garlic Cheddar Chicken (I used Panko crumbs and it worked very well.)
Manicotti Alla Romana
The only thing I would do differently in any of these recipes was the manicotti:  I don't think I'll use as much spinach next time.

** Bonus:  Look what I found in the freezer:
Suuu-weeeet!  I had completely forgotten that CH bought those thin mints for me, and I put them in the freezer a couple of months ago!  HA!
