{Friday Foto Friends} Sparsely Participating!

I'm participating sparsely with just a few pictures from this week & linking up with Deb from Breathing in Grace.
I thought this was a pretty cool picture. I took it one evening when I took the dogs down to my parents' house so they could run around the fenced-in yard. The big tree's reflection in the window caught my eye.
It kind of looks like the giant "leg lamp" from The Christmas Story!
Sunday evening, CH & I rode up to "The Peaceful Side of the Smokies" to meet up with some friends of ours from NJ who are vacationing down here. As we traveled close to my mountain school, we were amazed at the fire line from the fire back in November.
You can definitely see where the fire was.

This isn't a great picture, but you can see where the trees haven't grown back.
This old organ was in an area just outside of the restrooms.
We ate at a restaurant that I hadn't ever noticed before. It was very rustic inside and the food was excellent. Good Southern-style home cooking!
Halloween? Already???
This hit me when I walked into Michaels yesterday. It's 86 degrees outside in the middle of summer, and Halloween is already up? But...wait. I saw this when I turned a corner:
You've got to be kidding.
So...how is it in your neck of the woods? Hotter than blue blazes but the stores are trying to get you cooled off with visions of Halloween & Christmas being right around the corner? Ridiculous!

  1. It doesn't bother me so much that Christmas and Halloween things are out in the craft stores. Crafters need to get started on their goods now if they are going to be in an craft fairs this fall.

    1. I'm not a crafter, so I didn't even think about that aspect of it! It makes a lot of sense now.

  2. Yup, autumn is being 'sold' earliest I have ever seen it in the stores. School clothes are out now and Halloween is everywhere!
    Enjoyed the photos a lot.

  3. I'm looking forward to fall, but I don't like how retail pushes the holidays, although I understand. My pics were sparse today, too. May I ask the name of the restaurant? Sounds like food my picky hubby would eat. 😊 Thanks for linking up... Happy weekend to you.

    1. Sure! The restaurant is "Riverside", and it's right next to the KOA; if you're coming from Wears Valley, it's just before the KOA.

  4. Yes, I went into Hobby Lobby and it was filled with Christmas decorations, trees and fall leaves. They don't waste a minute.

    1. It would be different if it was only craft stuff...but there are a LOT of decorations out there to be bought. Maybe they put those out so people will get ideas of things to make?

  5. Trudy said what I was about to say...yes, the crafters are starting now, preparing for the holidays. When it shows up at Walgreens and CVS in a month or so we can complain about it then! I can remember when we didn't see Christmas until AFTER Thanksgiving. That fire line is interesting. Thanks for pointing it out.

  6. Nature is sure strange but it knows what it's doing, I think. Halloween isn't a big holiday here in New Zealand, so we will be seeing Christmas stuff soon.
