~ Tonight may or may not be the Small Town's last football game. If it is, this will be the shortest season in 8 years.
~ YS is ready for football to be over so they can get started with the concert music.
~ Plans for after school today: workout, go home, take shower, put on jammies, and curl up on the couch. Looks like a good night for the first "The Family Stone" viewing of the year.
~ Sad news: The School Resource Officer (SRO) at one of my schools got some bad news this week: his cancer has returned. He went yesterday to get his port. It's not looking too good. He's a wonderful SRO: the kids LOVE him, and he's very involved with the faculty. Prayers are welcome.
~ As I headed up to my "mountain school" yesterday morning, I was able to take in the colors on the mountains. It seems like they're hanging around longer than usual this year, and they are absolutely gorgeous. I'd better get up to the parkway/cove this weekend to get some good pictures.
~ MS' high school friend/teammate who kicked during UT's game last week is traveling to Arkansas with the team this weekend. He probably won't get in the game, but at least they're not leaving him behind!
~ We had quite a dilemma yesterday: YS wanted to go the game store for the midnight release of some new game. It was a school night, so we had to make a decision. Being the good parent I am, I totally left it up to CH to decide. The game has already been paid for, and apparently the store was having some party leading up to the release. It's beyond me how anybody could spend 4 hours in a video store. Yes, he got to go. :) And, he was up at 5:45 this morning to get a round in before school.
~ I went to a workshop last Monday; there were only 6 people there, and 4 of us are from the same school system. We got some great ideas, and were able to interact with the speaker and pick her brain on some stuff. I love going to workshops that get you fired up about your job!
~ It's going to be pretty cold here...what's it like where you are?
So sorry to hear about your SRO; sending up prayers.
ReplyDeleteKids and their games...as long as they are not out getting into trouble, why not???
We have our last game tonight as well....and Linds is ready for 'indoor' dance season to start next week.
Our weather? Gorgeous. Perfect. Lovely.
Somehow I missed some of your last posts, they were not showing up on my reader.
Have a good weekend
It's cold here, too. A perfect day to nestle in my recliner, quilting while watching a movie on DVD. ;-)
ReplyDeleteSome of the trees around here have lost their leaves already ... but there are plenty still in full, beautiful color.
Will be praying for the SRO. {{hug}}
So I'm from Java's, and I'm your latest follower - very nice to meet you. I thought you had a linky here, but I can't seem to find it. Oh well, hello anyway and have a great weekend. I'll be back to browse!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great idea, I think I will join you and watch The Family Stone! I had a huge desire to watch
ReplyDeleteThis Christmas the other day and It's A Wonderful Life. I think that is how I will spend my weekend. So sorry about the SRO, I will pray for him and his family. My husband asked when I will turn the furnace on!
We will keep your co-worker in our prayers!
ReplyDeleteWeather is in the 70's this weekend. Love this time of year.
Enjoy your weekend!
Weather here (St. Louis) has been getting gradually colder, but still tolerable. Not the blasts of frigid air they were predicting earlier in the season. Would love to have seen pictures of the mountains in fall.
ReplyDeleteI think I would have done the same thing with YS, letting him go to the video store; I bet it was a fun time for him!! That is sad about the SRO and his cancer coming back; such a terrible, terrible disease!
ReplyDeleteKind of pleasant weather here, supposed to get rain for the weekend. We'll see.
betty
So sorry about the SRO. :(
ReplyDeleteThe game comments made me chuckle. Rooster was at Best Buy at midnight...actually he lined up around 7pm with a friend. However, HE did not get up in time for school. I let him sleep in and then let him have it when I got home. ha ha ha
I'm in the "curled up on the couch" phase of my day. Hope you got everything done that you were hoping to!
ReplyDeletewe allowed our boys to go to a midnight release party for a game that was coming out a few years ago. It was a school night but it was well worth the excitment and the bonding experience it was for all of them.
ReplyDeleteHeh, I just gave a workshop at the ATMNE (math teachers, New England) conference, and I think I fired up a few people. so Yay for both of us!
ReplyDeleteI understand your son's early rising--I do the same thing so I have some blog reading time before I head off to work.
ReplyDeleteStopping by from FF.
Your header photos is absolutely gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAlthough we had quite a snow "event" this week, it's nearly all melted, now, thank goodness. Temps are wonderfully mild.
Sorry about your SRO. I will say a prayer for him tonight.
Deliciously lazy weekend over here :)
Thanks for linking up!
Wow, voluntarily getting up at 5:45! That must be a great game.
