Friday Fragments
~ Can you believe I'm still tired from the big game last weekend? Well, believe it. I've gone to bed early every night this week. Thank goodness this week's game is away!
~ I'm loving this Curves thing! It may be my imagination, but I already feel like my clothes are fitting a little better.
~ I had quite a feeling of accomplishment yesterday. On Wed. as I was driving to work, I heard my car making an awful sound. It stopped when I stopped. Who knew that there was an audible indicator with brakes to let you know when they needed to be replaced? Any way, back to the accomplishment: I took my car to a place that just happens to be across the parking lot from Curves, walked over to work out, walked back and picked up the car, bought a headlight, went to the grocery store for a quick trip, and then went home. AND, I remembered to get my old brakes 'cause I knew CH would ask to see them when he got home!
~ Guess what? IT'S FOOTBALL TIME IN TENNESSEE! The first game of the season is tomorrow. We have a couple of boys from the Small Town who are on the team this year: one is a kicker, and the other was the state Gatorade player of the year 2 years ago. It's always good to see good boys doing good things. We also have a couple of boys at the Univ. of Ky. who are slated to be starters, a few at some smaller schools, and one in the NFL (GO, PACKERS!) . Do you follow college and/or pro football? If so, who are your favorite teams?

No, I'm not a football fan at all. ;-)
ReplyDeleteYay for you to go work out while your car was being worked on! Keep up the good work!!
I never would have thought to get teh old brakes! (It's SO nice to have a long-time family friend who is a mechanic/owns a repair shop.)
ReplyDeleteSO. EXCITED. FOR. FOOTBALL. TIME.
Let's gooooooo Mountaineers!!!!!
We are Florida State fans up in here! Love football season!!
ReplyDeleteWe love football season! Our favorite teams are the Cleveland Browns, New England Patriots (although I like the Titans uniforms best). For college we are Ohio State fans and also Duke basketball (not so much their football team). We also like the Seminoles.
ReplyDeleteYou should NEVER ask a football question when I'm going to be visiting here! I'll take up all your comment space. LOL
ReplyDeleteYES to football! YESYESYESYESYES!!!!LOVE me some FOOTBALL! I have been a Cowboys fan since I was a little girl- back in the Landry/Stubach days. When the Carolina Panthers came into being in the 90s, I moved them to number one just because they are so close to home. But I'm a Cowboys fan at heart and always will be. HEY- I actually like the Packers too. College? I have always loved OHIO STATE! My heart also belongs to the TarHeels (UNC) because I am a tarheel, born and bred! Birdie is fast becoming a Texas A&M fan since she is attending grad school there.
I was raised in a football family and my girls are all football fans too! Hubs even likes it- I taught him all about it! LOL
Have a great football weekend!
That is a day full of accomplishment! Feels wonderful, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteEnjoy football, I don't, but my hubby can't wait. I'm afraid our Buckeyes are going to be in for a bit of a rough season--at this point they're still suspending players.
Glad you're liking Curves. =) I love to run, so Curves wasn't my thing...
ReplyDeleteBTW, I LOVE your blog layout!

Glad your loving Curves. Glad you got your breaks done and got to workout at the same time. Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeletenot a big fan but the end of the season and the playoffs are fun to get excited about.
ReplyDeleteFootball does seem to be a bigger thing in the south. I don't know why.
I bet you are feeling more comfy in your clothes! Had a chuckle over the bringing the old breaks home for the hubs to check. That sounds quite familiar!
ReplyDeleteP.S. My family decided that your aunt needs to send the dog video into funniest home videos!!
It is football time here at the Korb house too. Frank is glued to the set as we speak. I am going to have to find something to do....besides read. Have a wonderful and safe weekend.
ReplyDeleteHow did you know to get the old brakes? I would have never known this. I'm impressed! We love football in our family; but, without television, we are going to have to find a place to get cozy so that we can, at least, see some of the games. Maybe someplace where everybody knows our name? Hope you have a fantastic long weekend and get some rest!
ReplyDeleteI love it when you have a day where everything falls into place!!
ReplyDeleteI'll have to remember about asking to have the old brakes!
Have a wonderful weekend,Mary!!
I so know the excitement of games can be overwhelming with one in hs and another in college I get to scream alot as well come see me at http://shopannies.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteHey there from the great state of Oregon (though you wouldn't know it today based on how our football teams played...sigh....I'm actually bouncing around blogs trying to find something to serve as a semi-diversion from the pounding our UO Ducks have taken from LSU just now).
ReplyDeleteSo, that pretty much answers your football question. Our family supports the UO Ducks, my twin sister's family supports the OSU Beavers - and we are all supporters of both until they face each other.
I checked out the pic of your boys - such great-lookin' guys. I assume they play(ed) football too? We have a son and a daughter, 12 and 9. Brayden also plays football and likes it, but he's one small dude....so I'm not sure how far he'll be able to go.
I read back far enough to see your post on southern accents. I find all of them charming and am not at all discerning as we have a "minus-accent" here in the northwest!
I hope you all have a great Labor Day weekend!
We paid $30 for the Vols game and then it wouldn't come in. My husband was beside himself. We wound up listening to the game on the radio and watching LSU on TV. Not quite the night we had planned, but at least we won!
ReplyDeleteArizona State is back at it as well.
ReplyDeleteYay for college football! My favorite! When our girls were little hubs liked to periodically ask them "What time is it?" and they'd shout, "It's football time in Tennessee...Go Big Orange." It was cute.
ReplyDeleteYep. We are so ready for some football. The Green Bay Packers are hands down favorite around here. We must also root for the Carolina TarHeels since my husband spend eight years there in college.
