Last Friday Fragments of 2012
~ This is my last frag for 2012...I'm taking next week off to enjoy my family. We'll be with all of the boys...all week long! Plus a girlfriend. I won't know how to act with a girl around for so long!
~ The shopping is done, the presents are wrapped. I even put some under the tree. I was afraid Laika would tear into them, but she's been an angel. She went over and sniffed them at first, but a firm "NO" was all it took. She hasn't been around them since then.
~ CH asked me what I wanted for Christmas. Besides a decent phone (I'm using a "dumb phone" right now...my old droid kicked the bucket over Thanksgiving weekend.), I told him there isn't anything I want. I'm a "giver" this time of year. I love baking/making things and giving them away. I'm perfectly content to sit back and watch the boys open their gifts. I have all of my boys home for one more Christmas...what else could I want/need?
~ Cut-out cookies: who makes them? I have never been able to get mine to turn out right. Either they get messed up going to the pan or coming out of the pan. Or, they lose their shape while they're baking (I know...that's when I roll them out too thick.). I used to make the spritz cookies from Pampered Chef and use the cookie press, but I think the press is broken. I have enough junk to make on the agenda, so I don't think they'll be missed.
~ It's 7:30 a.m. I love this time of day. It's quiet, the sun hasn't come up yet, and I have the tree lights on. And, I'm the only one up after taking the dogs out. Very peaceful.
~ I hope everybody has a very Merry Christmas! Stay safe, and enjoy the season! See you next year!

HA! I've never had anything but a dumb phone.ReplyDelete
I do have a tablet though.
Max has already removed the bows from the gift The Man got for me, I heard The Man talking to him (Max, the cat) last night saying "I told you that is Momma's gift, not yours. But I don't think she'll mind sharing her bows." SO sweet!ReplyDelete
I make cut-out cookies - I too love to bake and do and give!
Merry Christmas. Enjoy your week off and no I don't think anyone will miss cut out cookies with everything else you made.ReplyDelete

I love your thoughts on Christmas and I concur. Love you!ReplyDelete
Enjoy your family time. I can put presents under the tree but not the ones for Skye and Charlie, those they will find. I will be making some Spritz cookies. I haven't made cut out cookies lately but I only had one recipe that worked for me. I will find it and email it to you.ReplyDelete
Wow you are more organized than I am...today is my wrapping day. I have made Nanaimo bars and hope to make a few more sweets this weekend.ReplyDelete
Enjoy your boys (and girl)!
I have the MOST DELICIOUS recipe for cut out cookies - - - they are DA BOMB and I used to make them every year.
Now, with just two of us here, I walk in the German bakery, plunk down my money, and take my Christmas cookies home!
You want my cut out recipe - - - give me a holler. You want directions to my good German bakery, give me a nother holler!
Have a wonderful Christmas!!ReplyDelete
A girl in the house-that's fun : )ReplyDelete
Merry Christmas to you all...enjoy your time with all the boys together this year!
Enjoy your week off with your family - including a girl! ;-)ReplyDelete
DD and I always bake a whole "mess" of cookies for Christmas. She likes the cut-out cookies, and since I never seem to be able to get mine to turn out right, she ends up doing them. We always make Spritz cookies (even though I'm the only one who likes them); in the past, I've had so much trouble getting the dough out of the press and onto the sheet ... but I broke down and purchased a Pampered Chef press, and it worked like a dream!
It's 6:30 AM here, and I've been up for an hour and a half ... love it!! It's so quiet and peaceful.
See you next year!
