Winter Wonderland

Apparently Joyce thinks it's more important to gallivant around Europe instead of getting questions ready for us for the Wednesday Hodgepodge.  Hmmmmmph.  Where are her priorities???  (Love ya, Joyce!)
(Edit:  I just checked my blog list, and Joyce did come through for us!  She must've posted sometime after I went to bed and before I got up.  What a champ!)
Sunday we saw some of this:

Then, Tuesday, after I got to school this was the view:
(That white car is my cute little Hyundai Tucson!)
Here are a couple more pictures from yesterday:
(This was shortly after I got to school.  Those aren't orbs, they're snowflakes!)
Unfortunately, it was all gone by the time we left to go home.  I hope this year isn't a replay of last year: it would start snowing after the buses had started their routes, and, heaven forbid, the buses should have to turn around and send the kids back home.
As I was leaving, I noticed this on my car:
I grabbed my camera and snapped a picture.  Every day, every kid in the school takes a walk around the parking lot for 5-10 minutes.  Apparently, this icicle was a hot topic of conversation with the 3rd Graders today!  These are mountain kids, remember?  They are easily amused!
Breaking news:  I bought my first Christmas gift this weekend!  Yep, I'm really on top of things.  Call me a scrooge, but I hate feeling that I have to buy for people because it's Christmas and I'm expected to buy things.  Don't get me wrong, I really do like to shop, but I have to be in the mood for it.  And, right now, just the thought of fighting crowds doesn't do a whole lot for me.  Hopefully I'll start getting in the mood once the tree is up and the house is decorated.  And, hopefully I'll do that this weekend.  Wonder if Sweet Tea will let me borrow Princess and the boyfriend?

  3. Mary, I haven't even bought the first present yet, dear. And I have no tree up....and the house is so not decorated. I'm not stressed out....yet!

The snow was really pretty. All of ours is gone too now.

Hope you have a wonderful Thursday!

  4. What a cute icicle on your car!! When we lived in Montana, they never closed the schools for snow unless the buses couldn't run and the buses could run as long as it didn't get below 20 degrees below freezing, so the kids always had school :)

loved the frosting of snow you got!!

I have bought a few Christmas gifts. I actually have shortened our list of who we buy for so the ones I give gifts to are ones I really want to give gifts to, if you know what I mean (like immediate family, hubby, son, son's girlfriend, hubby's parents and his brother/SIL) and that is about it.

hoping Thursday is a nice one for you!

  5. You are no so alone in being "late" on getting started on Christmas shopping. I am not ones of those that makes it a personal challenge to be "done" before the store Halloween displays are removed. In fact, I don't like those people.

  6. That icicle is so weird! What a pretty dusting of snow. I am offically done shopping and I didn't even have to go into a mall!

  7. They're calling for 1-3 inches around here today, but I'll believe it when I see it. However, I will admit to having my fingers crossed!

  8. It's official.. everyone else has snow. Denver has had ZERO inches. ZERO. The mountains keep taking it. How old is your youngest? My daughter is a junior at a Jesuit high school. Yes, my entire family plays tennis. I love it. My kids play in tournaments quite a bit. My husband and I played in a mixed doubles. And, the miracle was we stayed married! good times.

look forward to following you. laura
