Yes, I'm loving the Hodgepodge! Good thing Joyce has so much time on her hands to think of these questions (because she's snowed in...DUH!); hope she's stockpiling some for when the weather is nice!
1. What is more important-doing what you love or loving what you do?
Aren't they the same thing? If they're not, does that mean I have to actually think about it?
2. Do you like bleu cheese?
In small doses. Last summer we went to Ray's Hell Burger in DC, and YS got a burger with Bleu Cheese in it. He took a bite and that was it. I took a bite, wiped off the bleu cheese, and still only ate about half of it. It was just too much!
3. What is the most difficult emotion for you to handle?
Great. Another thinking question. If it's my emotion, I would say anger. If it's another person's emotion, I would say anger. So, I guess my answer is....anger!
4. Fresh flowers or a box of chocolate?
Really? I don't even have to think about this one! Chocolate. Flowers will die, but chocolate will be forever with you...on the hips!
5. What's a song you love that has the word 'love' in its title? It doesn't have to be a 'love song'.
The first one that just came to mind is Tina Turner's "What's Love Got to Do With It". Not very romantic, huh?
6. Are you the person you wanted to be when you grew up?
Pretty much. I haven't thought about it very much. I knew I wanted to be a wife & mother, and I knew I would be a working mom.
7. Any special Valentines Day plans?
YS is going to cook his "Orange-Balsamic Glazed Chicken" and "Lemon Risotto". At least, I've bought the ingredients for him to make it. Hopefully he'll make it for us.
We don't do a whole lot; VD is just another day, really.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
Yesterday, I had a few comments about cleaning the washing machine. When I had my plain washing machine, I never cleaned it. When I got my new HE washing machine, it came with a sample of washing machine cleaner. I actually looked at the manual, and it recommended cleaning the machine once/month. My machine has a "cleaning" cycle: I just put the knob on the cycle, put the temperature on "hot", and push the button. I don't remember the brand that was included with my machine, but I bought some Tide washing machine cleaner. Just open the packet, pour it in the machine, and push the button.
Don't forget to go to Joyce's to link up and see how everybody else answered!
You have to clean the washing machine! The machine that cleans, need cleaning? I find that funny....sorry.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on #1 and #4! You're supposed to clean your washing machine. I'm lucky to get my clothes washed, let alone the machine. haha
ReplyDeleteHow nice to have a son cooking dinner for you! Sounds good to me.
ReplyDeleteI clean my washing machine. We also have central vac and we vacuum the cannister where all the dirt is deposited so I guess you could say we vacuum our vacuum!
The closest thing my machine gets to a wash is a quick wipe over now and again with a damp cloth to get rid of the fluff round the buttons! I've never even considered cleaning the inside.....well maybe the little drawer where the powder and conditioner go sometimes. They get a bit gunked up now and again.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading your answers, I am glad I haven't tried bleu cheese! LOL
ReplyDeleteYou are so right, chocolate stays with you...LOL
I didn't realize you had to clean those HE washers--live and learn. Can't wait to get to try one in a few more years.
#4 is very true, and I can't believe a washing machine needs cleaning! What's the point?!?
ReplyDeleteI am so very impressed with the self-cleaning washing machine. Wow...that is way cool.
ReplyDeleteI love reading your HodgePodge answers every week, Mary! I would participate but it requires too much thinking. Since you visit my blog quite often, you know that I don't do too much thinking unless it's about food...or taking pictures....or taking pictures of food. :)
ReplyDeleteHave Chef Son make extra risotto to turn into risotto cakes. They are UN-believable made out of the lemon risotto. Promise!
wait... what? wash the washing machine? who knew??
ReplyDeleteThe orange glazed chicken sounds really yummy!
ReplyDeleteI totally laughed out loud at the chocolate comment...forever on the hips.. maybe I need to ask for more flowers.. hmmm...
ReplyDeleteI had no idea you could clean a washing machine - I guess I figured that washing the clothes inside of it was cleaning it also....but seeing as how I routinely dye my (black) clothes in my washing machine ~ it would probably be a good idea for me to track down some of that there washing machine cleaner and use it!!
ReplyDeleteWhen we had to buy a new washer and dryer when we moved into our new house 2 years ago, I really almost bought front loaders ... until I learned that they had to be cleaned periodically. I can barely stay on top of laundry (with just the 2 of us) as it is ... without worrying about running a cleaning cycle every once in a while. No thanks. Besides, with front loaders, I can't throw in one or two more things (of DH's of course) that I found on the floor like I can with a top loader. ha!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't a clue washing machines had to be cleaned with a cycle. Makes sense tho. Thanks for the tip!
ReplyDeleteGuess I better go clean my washer. It's about 18 months old and has never been cleaned. Maybe that explains the smell in the laundry room....
ReplyDeleteMy hubby says his favorite holiday is St. Patrick's day since you do not have to buy anything for anyone. :)
ReplyDeleteOkay, I never knew you were supposed to wash your washing machine and I've never heard of a washing machine with a self cleaning cycle. Where have I been?
ReplyDeleteI clean my washing machine occasionally, inside and out. Seems simple to me. :-)
ReplyDeleteLove that your son is fixing Valentine's dinner for you all! Neat!
I'm not much of a candy/chocolate lover, to I'd have to go with the flowers. Actually, a nice dinner out for two would be nice!
Always love reading your posts, Mary!
I am very jealous of your washing machine! Fancy!
ReplyDeleteBlue Cheese is almost always too much for me.
I agree that Valentine's Day is just another day. Crazy how much importance some people put on it.
I'm not crazy about blue cheese but will eat some of it when it's in a salad. Loved your answers. Joyce does make us think! I've never heard about cleaning your washing machine, I would think it gets clean each time you wash clothes! Very interesting.
