Snow Covered Frags

Mommy's Idea

~  Another day off from school.  Not because of this:

But because of this:
We got out of school early yesterday in a torrential rain.  I took the first picture when I got home.  Luckily, the pipe draining the water from the gutter & away from the house did its job, so the basement was dry.

~  Every time I saw this I had to laugh:

I think YS got just a little aggravated with me.  We live in the "city", and I work for the county schools.  It's very rare when the city schools are called off.  BTW, he doesn't have to go to school today.  The rain switched to snow literally in a minute.  Very strange, indeed.
Even the university in the "big city" where MS attends is on a delay this morning.  The South doesn't do snow & ice, y'all!

~  Over 8000 lost power in the county just north of us.  The snow is really heavy:
~  Laika had her first romp in the snow...ever.  I waited to take her out until after CH got home so he could see her first snow romp.
And then she got a little more comfortable with it:

Please excuse the word that CH said near the end (right before I said, "Baby, please".).  I guess he didn't realize I had the camera on!

~  So, today will be a day of couch-sitting, blanket-wrapped, tea-sipping, reading a book kind of day.  Oh, and I have to watch last night's "Scandal".  I chose to watch "Suits" last night.  Tough decision!

~  Have a good weekend!

  2. When I worked for B. County way back in 1984 (can that be right???) we only had 12 days of school in January. It was a crazy winter. Enjoy your day off!

  3. snow? I live way south, so I can say...keep it at your house please! I'm a wuss when it comes to cold and snow.

A blanket wrapped tea sipping reading a book kind of day sounds perfect to me. Enjoy.

  4. So funny that amount of snow leads to no school - I love how our perspective on weather totally depends on what we usually get. I would just be annoyed at that level of snow - not enough to shut things down, but enough to make me wish for lots more!

I love dogs playing in the snow! When it snows, Kali will sit at the window and just watch, wagging her tail - until I take 1/2 step towards the door and then she makes it very clear that I just promised to let her out to play :).

    Enjoy your day!

  6. Oh my virgin ears!!!!!! LOL
Loved seeing her romp in the snow; she is so darn tall and lanky. Like a supermodel dog. :)
I hope you all stay nice and warm.
It cooled off here too; we turned off the a/c yesterday!

  8. I wish we had snow. We have this weird permanent frost going on for over a week now. My sidewalk and driveway are crunchy (and slippery!). We don't do snow in Seattle at all well either. Just before Christmas we got 4 inches and PANIC. All the bread and milk flew off the shelves.

Cracks me up. I grew up on the other side of the state where in 13 years of school, we had 3 snow days. I grew up measuring snow in feet, not inches :)

Your dog is cute. When we got our mini-dachshund we lived in Kentucky and she was so confused when it snowed the first time. When we go visit my parents in now laden Idaho, my dad actually shovel paths in the grass for her!

  9. Hi!

Thanks for finding my blog (I'm the one who sent you the Christmas card).

It looks FREEZING where you are right now. And I thought we were cold in Vegas....

  11. haha! Our dogs get excited in the snow too... I think because they know its like a water bowl everywhere. We have one dog that just walks & chomps it, walks & chomps it. It makes them frisky in it too wanting to just run & run.

  12. You lucky duck! How pretty all that snow looks! We didn't get a single flake here...such a bummer! Hey, at least the sun is shining and the rain has stopped...that alone is reason to REJOICE! Hope you have a happy weekend...stay warm!

  14. Sounds like it was a perfectly lovely day. I watched Scandal and ironed today. I can't decide where it's going, I feel like it started off as one show and morphed into another.

    Enjoy your weekend.

  15. I remember when I, a Wisconsin girl, lived in the south for 12 years - - - I ALWAYS chuckled about all the cancellations for a small dusting of snow.

  17. It look silkier fun, especially for the dogs, but I'm glad we don't get the snow (except on rare times) here in Florida!

  22. Great to watch the "Romp in the Snow". YIKES for driving in the white, slippery stuff. Glad you got to spend the day at home "roughing" it! :-)

  23. I love watching dogs in the snow!! Our first dog kept sniffing it, our second dog just dove right into a snow drift and came up somewhere down the yard. It was funny!!

I am so glad you got a day off because of the white stuff!!

  25. Thank goodness for good drainage!

I was glad for just a delay yesterday as we are off Monday and Tuesday... would rather have a Snow Day at the end of February when we have no break until Easter!

  26. I love watching dogs in the snow! They're so cute! Our dogs somehow think they "own" it and have to protect their yard when we get a snowfall.

Glad the basement stayed dry! Enjoy your time off.

I am headed to North Carolina next week for a book signing and I hear there is snow...yikes.
Your dogs had me smiling and CH that was some funny s**t.

  31. Rain and then turning to snow does make for heavy trees and wires breaking. Love the videos. I would love for Skye to experience snow. I will have to see if I can convince my husband to take a day trip into our local mountains.
