Wednesday Hodgepodge

Here are Joyce's questions for the week.  If you want to get in on the fun, click on the button above, copy and paste the questions in a new post and answer.  Don't forget to add your link!

1. How many times in your life have you moved house?
I moved once when I was 9 months old.  CH & I have moved 8 times in 27 years.  3 of those moves were to different states.
2. What subject would you study if you had a year to devote to it?
German.  Especially if it meant I could live a year in Germany or Austria.
3. What in this world breaks your heart?
Knowing that there are starving children out there.
4. What is one item that symbolizes the times in which we live? Why?
Gosh, Joyce.  You just have to throw in one really tough one, don't you?  I'm writing this Tues. night, and I have bus duty tomorrow morning, so I need to go to bed.  In other words, I'm not going to make my brain hurt trying to think of an answer to this one!

5. Share a favorite bumper sticker or t-shirt slogan.
I couldn't think of one, so I looked online and this one made me chuckle:
"National Sarcasm Society:  Like we need your support"
6. How do you like your spaghetti?
I'm a "spaghetti simple" kind of girl:  I like spaghetti either with chicken or ground beef.  I'm not a big fan of meatballs.
7. What is one piece of advice you would give a recent, or soon to be recent, graduate?
Live your life for you.  Don't get so tangled up in relationships that you lose sight of your dreams.
Also:  keep your friends close.  Find close friends and hold on to them tightly, regardless of where your lives take you.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
Thanks for all the well wishes for Ally.  I have to call the vet later today to find out if she will get to come home today or tomorrow.  The surgery went well.  The vet said that there were at least 900 stones, and more like 1000.  I repeated the number this time to make sure I heard correctly!  Ally will have to be on a special diet from here on out, which means I'll have to make sure she & Pepper are separated when they eat.  Plus, I'll have to get separate bowls for them and put them on a schedule.  Up to now, I have been able to make sure they have food in their bowls, and they get it as they want.  Neither one of them are the kind to gobble down food if it's available.

  1. I'm glad your dog is okay!!

I never used to be a big meatball fan, I don't really like meat in my sauce, but I love the recipe I use now...I make them small and drop them into the sauce raw to cook. The first time I tried it I didn't think they'd cook but they do. Course I'm not eating a lot of carbs these days so don't have spaghetti very often.

    Enjoy bus duty : )

  2. Love the advice, live your life for you! So true!

  3. I'm so glad you dog is going to be OK. Boy it's hard when they are ill. We sure will do a lot for out pets. Love #5.

  4. I totally agree with you that Joyce always puts those questions in that we have to put some real thought into...hurts my head! But I love it! Bus duty = UGH. LOVE #5!

So glad that all turned out well for Ally- and that it didn't cost $6700! You're too funny!

  5. The slogan is great! Gotta remember that one.

  6. I did have to laugh at your answer to #5. And I love your answer to #7. I'm not a fan of meatballs either ... but I do prefer meat sauce on my spaghetti. I'm so glad to hear that Ally is doing fine. It sounds like your work will be cut out for you to prevent a recurrence, but it will be worth it. ;-) Have a wonderful Wednesday

  7. 900 stones? Seriously? Oh my gosh! Good thing she had that surgery!!!!

  8. Your bumper sticker made me laugh!

  9. This is going to totally gross you out but if I have meatballs - I need those premade (probably not totally beef) ones that you can get at the grocery store. But I have to be in the mood for it.

So glad your furbaby is on the road to recovery!

  10. I'm glad your baby's all right. Unbelievable that she could have that many stones! Ouch!

  11. Love that sarcasm. I live with a teenage girl so I know sarcasm!. . .Soooo glad your poochie is recovering!

  12. where can i get that bumper sticker? love it!

  13. wow, I can't imagine that many stones!! hoping she can come home soon! Good luck with the special diet!!

  14. Enjoyed reading how you answered the questions. I can't believe that about Ally. With my daughter here her dog Charlie is on a special diet. We have to keep their food separate, it's not easy!
    Glad she is doing well.

  15. Funny that you should talk about how many times you've moved house....

We moved all of our stuff yesterday. David and I were talking this morning on how many times we had moved. I started counting and lost track....ended up having to use Excel to keep the count going.....24 times for me. I'm done. :)

  16. I clicked off that last comment before I commented on your baby. I'm a couple of days late. I can't believe how many stones she had. I hope she's home and recovering and that you've been able to easily transition them into the new feeding routine.
