Here's what we did with the speech kids on Monday and Tuesday:
Cute, huh? The kids love when we do stuff like this! And, you can incorporate a lot of language & speech into it. I do have a rule: anytime we make something to eat, it's put in a bag for them to take home and eat there. Just in case.
On Wednesday, I saw one of the special ed teacher's decorated door. She really went all out this year:
There will be windows with the kids pictures in it on either side of the door, but I wanted to take a picture before they did that. I told her it was definitely blog-worthy!
Last, but certainly not least, the SRO (School Resource Officer) and the librarian had a little bit of time on their hands on Wed. since there was a school-wide basketball game between the students' teams and the faculty. We only had a 1/2 day and they didn't run the buses (which saves the school system $25000), so there were very few kids at school. Okay, back to those 2 having time on their hands (which could be very dangerous!): The Christmas Tree went up in the office, but there hasn't been a tree topper. Until now.
That's Mr. Principal...he's now on the top of the tree. They had some problems with getting it to stay on top, but, they had plenty of time, so they figured it out! You've gotta keep your sense of humor when you work in an elementary school, people!
Hope everybody had a Happy Thanksgiving! I didn't even get my camera out yesterday; I was just enjoying being with my family and a friend of ours. I also was able to get in some time with my new 4 week old grand-nephew...just sitting in the chair rocking him, enjoying his little sounds and smells. Heaven.
Hello Mary, just thought i would pop in and wish you and yours a very Happy Thanksgiving.. sorry but you have disappeared off my main blog and althought I didn;t forget about you.. I thought wth.. where is Mary?? gee hopefully this weekend hubby and I can get our tree up it will have to be Saturday tho as the Grey Cup (football) game is on Saskatchewan and Montreal and yay Sask.. since B.C. couldn't pull it together.. tc Sue
ReplyDeleteI've had a couple of Yorkies in my lifetime and taking them out (for them to run off) was never high on my list. Never knew whether to hug them or beat them when they returned from their jaunts.
ReplyDeleteLOOOOVE the tree-topper!!!
On the confession thing- just looking for grace anywhere I can find it! A few years back my older child asked why we only went once a year...I had no answer. So now we go more than once a year. :-) It's an acquired taste, I think. Never thrilled to go, but always glad I've gone!
Haha. Darn dog! I hate when they do whatever they want...throwing caution and their owners comfort to the wind. Grrr.
ReplyDeleteThat angel is awesome.
Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Those decorations are so cute. Enjoy your time off of work!
ReplyDeleteOh how great to have your little grand-nephew at your Thanksgiving celebrations! I think I would have enjoyed holding him for a very long time too!! Very cute tree topper!! I think all should get a "kick" out of it! Liked the cupcake your students decorated too, very cute idea!!
ReplyDeleteToo funny about the dog! Just what you needed on a morning you could potentially have enjoyed more time in bed.
enjoy the rest of your weekend!
betty
Shame shame little doggie! lol
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! :)
She is Such. A. Brat.
ReplyDeleteAwww, Ally takes after her Mama!
;)
OK, I'm sorry... what is that thing supposed to be? A red-headed vampire? A buck-toothed, scary-haired kid? It almost looks like you could make it a turkey, but I don't think that's what you were going for...
Great Decorations! We have a couple of places we take our dog to run off lead. And does he run!!!!!! Walking at heel is a chore and one he doesn't appreciate, but we persist. Treating him constantly while we are outside has resulted in much more dependable "recalls", thankgoodness.
ReplyDeleteNow, on to the next big day...only 30 or so to go.

I can't imagine their being a Christmas tree at school, our school won't even allow any halloween celebrations. I love that yours does.
ReplyDeleteHope your Thanksgiving was great.
This is a fun post! Love the pictures and the stories. I like your new photo on the main page of hubby and you! Sweet!
ReplyDeleteBad doggie!! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had a great Thanksgiving! Italians don't really eat turkey and are fascinated by this holiday. They think pumpkin pie is gross - which is fine by me because I make GREAT pies and now I don't have to share 'em, lol!
I love the little turkeys. When my girls were little we used to do these only we used oreos..You opened them up and stuck the back to the top using the filling.
ReplyDeleteDogs. They can make you so crazy one minute and then be so sweet the next. Its hard to stay mad at them.
Have a great day...hopefully we're getting out tree up today while the girls are home.
Our neighbor has Pippi, a springer spaniel/jack russell terrier mix. On a regular basis she defies gravity and gets out running until she is exhausted. Glad your dog story had a happy ending. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad she came home and is okay.
ReplyDeleteI hate when that happens. What a beautiful decoration on the door and I love the tree topper!!!
Glad she is home and loved the pictures...especially the turkey cupcake...that was priceless.
