Thanksgiving Leftovers

So much for heading back to bed after letting the girls out at 6:00 a.m.  No, it wasn't to go shopping, it was to spend about a half-hour to look for "the princess".  It was raining, so I thought they would both go out, do their business, and be ready to head back in.  So, I stood on the porch, but I lost site of Ally (the schnauzer).  I kept calling her, then went down to coax her back in.  Dadgum dog has a mind of her own.  After going back in to get the flashlight and looking around the yard, I figured she decided it was time to go to the park for a walk.  (Our house is right next to a park with a walking trail.)  I got in the car and did a quick circle around the park, but didn't see her.  I went home and saw her next to the back porch as soon as I got out of the car.  She is Such. A. Brat.  I'm not sure where she was, but she knew she was in trouble.  No treat for her.  And, looks like she'll be on a leash for a few days.  At least it wasn't a school day and I didn't have anywhere to go.  Brat.
Here's what we did with the speech kids on Monday and Tuesday:
Cute, huh?  The kids love when we do stuff like this!  And, you can incorporate a lot of language & speech into it.  I do have a rule:  anytime we make something to eat, it's put in a bag for them to take home and eat there.  Just in case.
On Wednesday, I saw one of the special ed teacher's decorated door.  She really went all out this year:
There will be windows with the kids pictures in it on either side of the door, but I wanted to take a picture before they did that.  I told her it was definitely blog-worthy!
Last, but certainly not least, the SRO (School Resource Officer) and the librarian had a little bit of time on their hands on Wed. since there was a school-wide basketball game between the students' teams and the faculty.  We only had a 1/2 day and they didn't run the buses (which saves the school system $25000), so there were very few kids at school.  Okay, back to those 2 having time on their hands (which could be very dangerous!):  The Christmas Tree went up in the office, but there hasn't been a tree topper.  Until now.

That's Mr. Principal...he's now on the top of the tree.  They had some problems with getting it to stay on top, but, they had plenty of time, so they figured it out!  You've gotta keep your sense of humor when you work in an elementary school, people!
Hope everybody had a Happy Thanksgiving!  I didn't even get my camera out yesterday; I was just enjoying being with my family and a friend of ours.  I also was able to get in some time with my new 4 week old grand-nephew...just sitting in the chair rocking him, enjoying his little sounds and smells.  Heaven.

  2. I've had a couple of Yorkies in my lifetime and taking them out (for them to run off) was never high on my list. Never knew whether to hug them or beat them when they returned from their jaunts.

    LOOOOVE the tree-topper!!!

On the confession thing- just looking for grace anywhere I can find it! A few years back my older child asked why we only went once a year...I had no answer. So now we go more than once a year. :-) It's an acquired taste, I think. Never thrilled to go, but always glad I've gone!

  3. Haha. Darn dog! I hate when they do whatever they want...throwing caution and their owners comfort to the wind. Grrr.
    That angel is awesome.

  5. Oh how great to have your little grand-nephew at your Thanksgiving celebrations! I think I would have enjoyed holding him for a very long time too!! Very cute tree topper!! I think all should get a "kick" out of it! Liked the cupcake your students decorated too, very cute idea!!

Too funny about the dog! Just what you needed on a morning you could potentially have enjoyed more time in bed.

enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Awww, Ally takes after her Mama!

    ;)

OK, I'm sorry... what is that thing supposed to be? A red-headed vampire? A buck-toothed, scary-haired kid? It almost looks like you could make it a turkey, but I don't think that's what you were going for...

  8. Great Decorations! We have a couple of places we take our dog to run off lead. And does he run!!!!!! Walking at heel is a chore and one he doesn't appreciate, but we persist. Treating him constantly while we are outside has resulted in much more dependable "recalls", thankgoodness.
Now, on to the next big day...only 30 or so to go.

  9. I can't imagine their being a Christmas tree at school, our school won't even allow any halloween celebrations. I love that yours does.

    Hope your Thanksgiving was great.

  11. Bad doggie!! LOL!

I'm glad you had a great Thanksgiving! Italians don't really eat turkey and are fascinated by this holiday. They think pumpkin pie is gross - which is fine by me because I make GREAT pies and now I don't have to share 'em, lol!

  12. I love the little turkeys. When my girls were little we used to do these only we used oreos..You opened them up and stuck the back to the top using the filling.

Dogs. They can make you so crazy one minute and then be so sweet the next. Its hard to stay mad at them.

Have a great day...hopefully we're getting out tree up today while the girls are home.

  13. Our neighbor has Pippi, a springer spaniel/jack russell terrier mix. On a regular basis she defies gravity and gets out running until she is exhausted. Glad your dog story had a happy ending. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
