A Bit of Advice

Word to the wise:  When chopping up jalapeƱos, wear gloves.  Even if you think you don't need them.  Especially when scraping the seeds out.
Yeah, I was that stupid.  I didn't think about it until I took out my contacts. YE-OUCH!  I wasn't about to wear my glasses to work this morning, mainly because I can't see so great out of them.  I washed my hands in milk and in dishwashing liquid.  Didn't work. So, how did I get my contacts in this morning?  I used plastic wrap.  I put a little bit on my index fingers and got them in.
Needless to say, I will be wearing gloves next time I chop those little suckers!

  2. My hubby learned this lesson last year when he was making one of Pioneer Woman's recipes for a New Year's get together! Ouch.

  4. how clever you were to think about plastic wrap to put in your contacts! I'm sure it caused a bit of a challenge though! I'm not fond of jalepenos so I don't think we have to worry too much about this one, but I put it in my memory bank, just in case :)

  5. Bless your heart! My 3 yr old grandson learned about peppers this summer. My daughter was growing some in a small garden and Bubba decided to try one. You should see the pitiful picture of his face she sent me. His sage remark to his sister: "Peppers are hot!"

  6. Ouch. I never would have thought of the plastic wrap.
...the residue of them lasts forever.
I have issues JUST breathing while cutting them up, it hurts if the smell gets into my throat. So I cut them with my face turned...yep, I will cut a finger off one day. :)

  7. Oh my goodness! I did this with Thai chili peppers, and thought I was safe the next day to put my contact lenses in. SO WRONG!

Lesson learned though! I wrap my hands in plastic wrap when cutting the peppers now, as I don't always have gloves around.

Thanks for dropping by my blog!
